Oral Appliance Therapy?
It is as Simple as kissing your spouse good night, popping in the mouth piece and drifting off to the best night’s sleep you have had in years.
Oral Appliance Therapy (OAT) is recognized by the America Academy of Sleep Medicine as an effective first line of treatment for mild to moderate Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) cases. OAT uses an oral appliance (typically made from acrylic plastic) to treat snoring and obstructive sleep apnea. The appliances are worn in the mouth, similar to orthodontic retainers or sports mouth guards, while the patient sleeps. These appliances help prevent the collapse of the tongue and soft tissues in the back of the throat, keeping the airway open during sleep and promoting adequate air intake.
